The lineage of our Tai Chi practice began with an elderly Monk in China, who passed along his practice to Master Zhou Chu-Xiong, who passed it along to John McElroy, who brought it to Sudden Valley. From there it was taken up by CJ Prince and Debi Martin, who are instructors for the current classes.
Tai Chi is meditation in motion. The ultimate purpose of Tai Chi is to cultivate the “qi” or life energy within us to flow smoothly and powerfully throughout the body. Tai Chi is one of the most powerful mind-body exercises.

Tai Chi is an art embracing the mind, body and spirit. Originating in ancient China over 700 years, some say even up to 1500 years ago. Tai Chi is one of the most effective exercises for health of mind and body.
Tai Chi increases strength, stamina, flexibility and is easy on the joints. It cultivates the link between mind and body, enhancing balance and coordination. It also reduces blood pressure and improves oxygen levels.
Tai Chi, pronounced “tie chee” is a mind body practice that originated in China as a martial art. A person doing Tai Chi moves his body slowly and gently, while breathing deeply and meditating.
